It’s Official: Great West League Chooses Baden Baseballs
Fans of high-level college baseball will want to keep their eyes on the Great West League — and we’re not just saying that because Baden will be providing the official baseball.
The GWL is a new summer, collegiate wood-bat league that will begin play in 2016. It will feature six teams in California and Oregon, each playing a 60-game schedule between June and August.
The GWL has some serious backing with Pat Gillick, the Hall of Fame executive, and Jack Donovan, a former MLB player and scout, among the founders, and Ken Wilson, the longtime broadcaster and former president of the West Coast League, serving as president.
Teams will be in Chico, Calif. (Heat), Lodi, Calif. (Crushers), Marysville, Calif. (Gold Sox), Medford, Ore. (Rogues), Portland, Ore. (Pickles) and Sacramento (Stealth).

Baden’s 3B-Perfection Baseball to be used exclusively by elite college players in new summer league, starting next year
RENTON, Wash. (Dec. 17, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced it has been chosen to provide the official baseball of the Great West League (GWL), a new summer baseball league for elite college-eligible players, set to begin play next year.
The multi-year agreement designates Baden’s 3B-Perfection Baseball as the official ball of the GWL.
“As a Northwest company, we’re excited to be among the first supporters of the Great West League,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “We look forward to growing with the league, and to providing its coaches and players the very best possible playing experience through our high-quality, Perfection baseballs.”
Baden’s 3B-Perfection Baseball is designed to meet the NCAA’s flat-seam specifications, implemented before last season, and features a premium leather cover, pro-grade wool windings and a cushioned cork center.
Baden also provides the official baseball to many other Northwest organizations, including the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), Pacific International League (PIL) and the West Coast League (WCL).
“Baden produces a terrific baseball and their customer service is No. 1,” said Ken Wilson, GWL President. “We could not be more pleased to partner with Baden as we embark on this exciting journey.”
The GWL, headquartered in Portland, Ore., will start play with six teams in California and Oregon. Each team will play a 60-game schedule between June and August, with rosters composed of professional prospects from major college programs around the country.
In addition to balls, Baden’s baseball lineup includes the Axe™ Bat, a revolutionary bat with an axe-shaped handle designed to fit ergonomically in a batter’s hand. The design has been scientifically proven to provide better bat control and grip stability, enhance power transfer, and create opportunity for maximum barrel acceleration compared to bats with traditional round knobs and handles.1 The Axe™ Bat is approved for play at all amateur and professional levels and is being swung exclusively by many college baseball programs across the country.
All of Baden’s baseball products, including pitching machine balls, batting gloves and equipment bags, can be purchased through team dealers or online. For more information, visit www.badensports.com and www.axebat.com.
