Baden Baseballs Still The Standard For West Coast League
We spend most of the time in this space talking bats, but today, there’s some good news to pass along concerning balls. In short, Baden has reached an agreement with the uk speed dating toronto to continue providing the league’s official baseball.
Baden’s relationship with the WCL dates nearly to the league’s inception in 2005. Half of the league’s teams are in Washington, our home state, so we’ve had the privilege of watching from the front row as it has grown into one of the most prestigious summer leagues in the country.
College Baseball Daily even wondered as far back as 2013 if the WCL was approaching the storied status of the much older Cape Cod Baseball League. Elite company, indeed.
To get a better idea of what life is like in the WCL, read this excellent feature that appeared in The Seattle Times last summer. The full press release with today’s news is below.
Baden’s Perfection® Collegiate baseball will remain the official ball of the WCL following contract renewal
RENTON, Wash. (March 10, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced a multi-year contract renewal to continue as the official ball provider of the West Coast League (WCL), one of the premier collegiate summer baseball leagues in the country. The agreement extends a partnership that began in 2008 and designates Baden’s Perfection® Collegiate baseball as the official ball of the WCL. Member teams will receive complimentary game balls, reduced pricing on custom WCL balls and practice balls, and preferred pricing on team promotional balls, among other benefits, under terms of the deal.
“Our company’s roots are in the Pacific Northwest, so supporting regional organizations like the WCL is something we take special pride in doing,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “We’re honored the league has chosen to extend our partnership and are confident its many talented coaches and players will continue to enjoy the advantages of our high-quality Perfection baseballs.”
Baden’s Perfection® Collegiate 3B-PPRO-CL baseball is designed to meet the NCAA’s new flat-seam specification for 2015 – meaning a lower seam height of .031 inches, down from .048 – and features a premium leather cover, pro-grade wool windings and a cushioned cork center.
“Baden consistently meets and exceeds the quality expectations of our coaches and players,” said Dennis Koho, WCL President. “We’re looking forward to using Baden baseballs in the WCL for years to come.”
The WCL, founded in 2005, includes 12 teams in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. Teams are composed of professional prospects from major college conferences across the country, and play a 54-game league schedule starting June 5.
In addition to balls, Baden’s baseball lineup includes the Axe™ Bat, a revolutionary bat with an axe-shaped handle designed to fit ergonomically in a batter’s hand. The design has been scientifically proven to provide better bat control and grip stability, enhance power transfer, and improve barrel acceleration compared to bats with traditional round knobs and handles.¹ The Axe™ Bat is approved for play at all amateur and professional levels and is being swung exclusively by many college baseball programs across the country.
All of Baden’s baseball products, including pitching machine balls, batting gloves and equipment bags, can be purchased through team dealers or online. For more information, visit www.badensports.com and www.axebat.com.
